17th of May

On Wednesday it was the 17th of May, our national day. This is the day that Norway got its constitution. This is highly celebrated in Norway, kids walk in parade with marching bands, everyone is dressed up in nice clothes or in their national dress and there is lots of barbequing and ice crème- and hot-dog eating. Last year we escaped the craziness bu going to my parent’s cabin, but this year we had to go. After all this was Georg`s first 17th of May, and he had to experience this crazy Norwegian behavior.

Fist we met up with Kanutte, Tor Helge, Ingvild and Klaus to watch the children’s parade and wave to the King and Queen. Then we went down to Aker Brygge to eat hot-dogs and ice-crème. Afterwards we went home to change and then go barbequing at Kanutte and Tor Helge`s. Since the weather was crappy, we had to barbeque on the balcony, but it was very cozy. In the evening we played Settlers. So all in all it was a great 17th of May, but now that Georg have experienced it, we probably will run for cover next yearJ

Georg and me at the parade. I have on my national dress (Vestfolds bunad).

I put out more pictures of the day here!
